SUSAN CARDONA

Finding my photographic "voice" has been an endeavor that took several years.  My primary photographic interests are documentary, photojournalism, and portraiture.  This has led me down many paths, from post earthquake Haiti, leading to a book, and to the isolated counties of rural Maine.   I've been privileged to meet many people, several of whom have allowed me into their lives, earning my respect and admiration in the process.  I believe photography is not only used for insight, entertainment, and art, but very importantly has a place for social activism.  Past studies with Mary Ellen Mark, Sylvia Plachy, and Alex Webb have  helped fine tune my work.  Several exhibits, both solo and group, in addition to having sold several photographs and publishing a book. Ongoing projects involve both Grenada, W.I., seniors,  and Newburgh, NY.
